Bathroom Mirrors

Bathroom Mirrors was written by Ken Wilssens and he says "When you are ready to install your bathroom mirrors, it is a good idea to have a professional contractor help you, because mirrors are often very heavy, and they are not installed correctly, they can fall and cause serious injury from broken glass – not to mention the old supersticion of seven long years of bad luck.

Just because your bathroom mirrors are up on the wall and seem steady and stable, that does not mean that they were installed safely, because sometimes they have a way of working themselves slowly out of the wall. Especially if your mirror is installed in a surface such as tile, you have to be careful that it is done in the proper way with the appropriate kinds of hardware. Some surfaces for mounting, including sheetrock, masonry board, and tile or stone, have particular characteristics and may require adhesive around the nails or screws, caulking, anchor style bolts, masonry screws, or other specially designed fasteners to insure secure and long term holding power and stability. Some mirrors are attached with mastic or other kinds of construction adhesive, for example with epoxy or with liquid nails, and this can also create problems if the surface on which it is attached is not first prepped according to the recommendations of the manufacturer of the glue or adhesive. If you hang your mirror the way a painting in a frame is hung, then the hardware should be rated according to the weight of the mirror and the amount of weight that the hardware was designed to hold, so that the nails or wires used are adequate to support the weight of a mirror, which is normally a very heavy object.

Once your bathroom mirrors are safely and securely hung, be sure to clean them on a regular basis with a good glass and mirror cleaner, to ensure that they last a long time and give you the crystal clear utility you want in a good bathroom mirror.
