How to Choose a Baby Bathtub

How to Choose a Baby Bathtub was written by Jackie G. Maxwell and he says "Choosing a baby bathtub is likely one of the easiest decisions you'll have to make when it comes to acquiring supplies for the new arrival. Basically, if it holds water, you're all set.

There is little in the way of advantages to baby bathtub designs. Your basic tub shape, made of sturdy plastic, preferably with a drain plug in the bottom, will do you for quite a while. About the only essential differences, are whether the tub comes with one end that is built up so you can lay an infant back against the elevation, while washing them with water from lower down in the tub..

This style of baby bathtub, may come with a non-slip padded surface that doesn't mildew with use, but which may take a while to dry afterwards. Alternately, you can get “chairs” that are frames with terrycloth covers that create a tilted rest for your child, so you can wash them with ease, and rinse out and hang the cover when you're done.

Any tub that has a reasonable lip to it, for easy moving or carrying, is handy, although sizes do vary some, and you may want to measure them against where you plan to bath your baby. If you have a bathroom counter that will allow the space for a tub and laying the baby afterwards, you're all set. But if your space is limited, and standing at a sink is more comfortable, you might want a tub that is sized to fit in the sink itself, so that you can lay the baby on the cupboard afterwards. Working this way is also easier on a parent's back, than placing the tub on the bathroom floor.

Some parents will also choose a baby bathtub that folds up, for when they are traveling or visiting relatives. If you are interested in these, surf the Internet for the brand name, and see what consumer reports and user reviews have to say. Check for essential points such as whether there is leakage where the ends of the tub fold in, and if the tub comes with locking mechanisms that prevent an accidental collapse.

Secrets To Great Bathroom Design And Decorating

Secrets To Great Bathroom Design And Decorating was written by Lee Dobbins and she says "Bathroom remodeling ranks number one among America's most commonly performed home improvements. This is because today, many individuals consider their bathroom to be some kind of personal retreat, a separated space from the noise outside, where they could relax with complete privacy.

The bathroom is no longer just a space for one’s personal hygiene. Today’s design possibilities for bathrooms are limitless.

The standard rules do not apply anymore. Function, openness, performance as well as easy to clean and maintain materials usually top bathroom requirements. When designing your bathroom, take into consideration layout of bath pieces, cabinet placement and your choice of finishes..

Bathroom remodeling cost depends on how much or how little you opt to put in it. A simple improvement that includes a new bath vanity top, accessories and light fixture will cost under 1000 dollars, while a major bath remodeling, taking everything out then begin from scratch can cost 10,000 dollars or more.

With all available new materials, innovative products and design styles of today, your dream bathroom can actually turn into much more than a toilet, shower and sink combo.

Bathroom design Ideas

1. Set a realistic remodeling or makeover budget. When establishing a budget, take into account your bathroom design ideas that you want and if you can afford them. Also, take note that it is less expensive when you do not anymore relocate the plumbing fixtures like the sinks or toilets; if you have a small budget, consider incorporating the present layout of your bathroom into your new design.

2. Think of function first. Always take into account functionally in mind as your bathroom is your workstation for getting ready for your day ahead as well as your place for recovering and resting after a hectic day. So keep these in mind when selecting your shower, tub, toilet, sink and other bath pieces.

Furthermore, think about what other needs you have that you can include into your bath, with some clever and careful planning; maybe you want to put a seat into your shower or a linen storage space or a “steam room”. Think what you really want, but give prime importance to your needs first, then second, your wants.

3. Collect bathroom models and design ideas. These will be a big help on your project as you can visualize your finished project as well as your remodeling professionals can have an idea on what your requirements are.

Here are some ideas:

- If your bathroom is large enough, you can either a wicker chair or display case.

- Mix and match colors for your bathroom. This is fun alternative to a white or gray bathroom. Have fun cool and relaxing colors such as you can turn your bathroom into a beach-like retreat investing in cool shades of blue towels, rugged or distressed antique shelf, a series of colorful picture frames, etc.

- Introduce fresh flowers, potted plants or cut tree branches and arrange them in vase. These can liven up your bathroom.

- Bring the outside into your bathroom. Put some sea shells, candles, instead of tiles, you can choose to have lime stones in one wall as your focal point with an iron vanity, large plants and wind metal chimes.

- Get inspiration from your friend’s house, from an expensive restaurant, a spa or a hotel room.

4. Look into popular design trends in bathrooms.

- Second sinks now are getting to be very popular and trendy in bathroom remodeling because they permit two individuals to use their bathroom together.

- Separating your toilet from all other bathroom needs is another trend nowadays.

- If you include a shower only in your bathroom, think of replacing it with a “bathtub” that can serve as both a shower also. Whirlpool tubs are becoming popular in bathroom designs today.

- A spa-like bathroom is the most popular trend today. So aside from whirlpool baths, natural stone walls and wood flooring, try to open up your bathroom with large windows so you can see nature’s beauty outside as you relax.

Designing your bathroom space must not be just another remodeling project. The focus today has to do with your overall pampering needs and self rejuvenation in your bathroom.

Small Bathroom Design With A Small Bathtub

Small Bathroom Design With A Small Bathtub was written by Steve Gee and he says "What to do if a conventional bathtub won't fit into your small bathroom

If you are remodeling a very small bathroom that isn't big enough to fit a full sized bath or if you want to add a shower cubicle to your already cramped bathroom then there are a few options that you might want to consider.

Shower above the bathtub

If you have room for a full sized bathtub then the option that many people take is to put a shower over the bathtub. While this is an easy option I don't personally like it very much because it's difficult to make it look good and it always feels like a compromise that I didn't want to make..

Showers are for washing efficiently but bathtubs are for soaking and relaxing

After my small bathroom remodel I now have a shower cubicle as well as a bathtub, which I think is the ideal situation. Now that I have both I've been surprised to find that I use the shower far more often than I use the bathtub. Why is this? Well it's because a shower is far more efficient than bathing. I can shower in 5 minutes but when I take a bath I like to make it last for an hour or more. So for me the shower is for washing and the bathtub is for relaxing.

Trade the length of your bathtub for depth

Your bathtub is for soaking and relaxing in and for that you need to be immersed in water and you need to be comfortable. It's no good installing a short, shallow bathtub just to make it fit into your little bathroom because it won’t be any good for soaking in and it won't be comfortable either.

A better idea is to trade length of your tub for depth. This simple concept makes it possible to fit a bathtub that requires a modest floor area but still allows you to immerse yourself in water and relax.

Soaking bathtubs

The Japanese have a long tradition of using bathtubs for soaking and relaxation. They also often have to manage in very small accommodations so you can get a lot of ideas from looking at the way they live. The most interesting soaking tub that I've come across was nothing more than a wooden barrel with a stool fixed to the bottom. Yes it was crude but it worked. It fitted into a tiny little bathroom, it immersed you in water and it was very relaxing.

Walk in bathtubs

A sophisticated version of the wooden barrel bathtub is the modern walk-in bathtub. The principles are the same but they have built in seats and a door to allow easy access. A walk-in bathtub takes up much less space than a conventional bathtub but still allows you to take a very relaxing bath.

The walk-in bathtub door can be a two edged sword however. It allows easy access on the one hand, which is great if you have difficulty stepping up into the bath. The problem is that the door has a potential to leak at some point and require maintenance. Also you can't use the door unless the bathtub is empty of water, which means that you have to be inside when filling and emptying with water.

Short and deep bathtubs for very small bathrooms

So if you are remodeling a small bathroom remember that you can choose a shorter bathtub but make sure that it's deep enough to give you a long relaxing soak.

Country Style Bathroom Decorating

Country Style Bathroom Decorating was written by Kathy Burns-Millyard and she says "If your hectic life makes you yearn to escape to the countryside, why not create a little "get away" in your own home? Believe it or not, the bathroom is a prime candidate for a country theme. This is the room you use to shower or soak away the day's dirt as well as prepare for the day ahead. Why not give it a relaxing, country feel?

The easiest way to give your bathroom a "down-home" country feel is to add rustic accessories. Wooden pegs are a clean, simple way to add a country feel to hanging towels and bathrobes. Pine baskets are a charming way to hold guest towels, and a large wicker basket on the floor keeps bath towels handy as well as adding a country-life touch..

If your bathroom is shared by many people, you might want to consider using wire baskets instead of wood or wicker. The large amounts of steam created by numerous people showering can create the perfect environment for mold on wooden or wicker baskets. Either make sure you seal the baskets before using them, or substitute the kind of wire baskets used to gather and store eggs on a small, country farm.

Glass canning jars make great storage containers in a country bathroom. They are great for holding all the little miscellaneous things that float around a bathroom. You might have toothbrushes standing head up in a tall jar, and use progressively shorter jars to hold things like combs and hairbrushes, hairpins or barrettes, and cotton balls. You can purchase plain canning jars in most supermarkets, but to give your bathroom even more of a country feel, look for "bail-lid" jars with a glass top on hinges that clamps down tight. These are especially good at keeping cotton balls clean and dry until they are needed. Browse antique and "collectible" stores and you'll find beautiful antique canning jars that will add an authentic feel to your country bathroom.

You may find that these simple touches make you want to go "whole-hog" and add country style bathroom fixtures. Home improvement stores and bathroom showrooms have an amazing range of faucets, sinks, and tubs to meet your county bathroom design needs. A claw foot bathtub and pedestal sink will take your bathroom back to a simpler time. Need storage? A pine armoire fits the country theme perfectly, and is easy to find either finished or unfinished. If you choose to finish the piece yourself, products are available to help you give it an old, crackled or distressed look.

Whether you opt for just a few flourishes or completely redo your bathroom, your time will be well-spent. Your new accessories not only improve the functionality of your bathroom, they create a peaceful place to escape the frantic pace of everyday life.

Quick And Easy Bathroom Decor Changes

Quick And Easy Bathroom Decor Changes was written by Duane Jones and he says "Are you tired of the way your bathroom looks? Don't feel bad, a lot of folks are in the same boat. The bathroom is one room in the home that can look drab and run down very easily. And what if you don't have an unlimited budget to make changes in the fixtures and plumbing? Well take heart, there is lots that you can do for very little money that will totally and radically improve the decor of your bathroom.

One of the biggest problems with bathrooms is their tendency to get cluttered. You know, towels hanging all over the place, bath products on top of the vanity and on the shower floor, and things like that. So if you really want to make a 100% improvement in your bathroom clean up the clutter..

Fortunately, that is very easy to do and inexpensive. If you go to any WalMart or Target store, you will find plenty of organizer products for use in the bathroom. They are also very cheap. So get some of them and start to install them so that the most used products and items are within easy reach of wherever they would be used in the bathroom. If you make the storage spot convenient most people will continue to put it back in it's place after they use it. If you make the storage spot even a little difficult to access, you will see those items left all around wherever someone finds a spot for it.

Next, get some extra towel racks and install them so that there is a towel holder within easy reach of almost anywhere in the bathroom. Extra towel holders mean that even used towels can have a spot to be hung up instead of just left lying over the tub or shower stall door. Another advantage decor-wise of having extra towel bars is that you can use some of them to put up fancy towels for show that will really pick up the appearance of the room and highlight the colors that you used in your bathroom design.

Another simple and easy change to the appearance of any bathroom is the flooring. If you don't like what you see, change it. Fortunately, most bathroom floor spaces are fairly small and so not much material is needed. There are several options that you can choose from including vinyl sheets, ceramic tile, or vinyl tile squares. If you want simple and easy, stick-on vinyl tiles are probably the way to go. You can get them at a local Home Improvement store and they are usually very inexpensive too, and you can get some great looking designs that look very close to actual ceramic tile at a casual glance. Armed with a small cutter to trim the tiles when needed or shape them around an object on the bathroom floor, you are ready to go. If you make a mistake, peel up that tile, throw it away and use another one. Simple and easy!

Finally, buy some new towels for the bathroom. Get some great new colors and designs that are eye-cathcing and pleasing. Again, not much money invested for lots of return in visual appeal.

Change out the door knobs on your vanity and closet, and change the shower curtain and rings if you have one.

Just a few of these inexpensive changes in a bathroom can go a long way to changing that tired, old, cluttered, bathroom into one that makes you proud to show it off, and a pleasure to use.

Bathroom Shower Design for a Small Bathroom

Bathroom Shower Design for a Small Bathroom was written by Rob Buenaventura and he says "If you live in a city where space is at a premium, or if you’ve bought a very old house that only contains a bathtub, you might be faced with the problem of installing a shower stall in a very small space. However, with a little innovation, you have some choices.

First of all, if there’s a bathtub in the bathroom right now, you have the choice to remove it. This will give you the space to install a shower and may even free up a little floor space for you, since your bathtub usually takes up more space than your new shower will. Of course, you’ll no longer be able to take baths, but if you’re someone who doesn’t take baths anyway, perhaps this is an option for you..

Keep in mind as well that you might be devaluing your property by taking out the tub if you ever decide to put your house or apartment up for sale. In this case, you could move the tub elsewhere, assuming you’ve got the space and capacity to do so, but again, that’s your choice.

If, in fact, you have a bathtub that you want to keep, like one of those beautiful old claw footed bathtubs that were so common in the early 20th century, or even if you just want to take a bath while still having the option to shower, it’s pretty easy to be able to do this by simply attaching either a fixed shower head or one on a flexible hose by mounting it on your wall in your bathtub. If space is a consideration, you can also simply attach a showerhead on a flexible hose right to your bathtub faucet. This is the easiest option, since installing it won’t even take a screwdriver. You can also just pop it off the faucet whenever you need to run the tap.

Finally, if you’re so inclined, you could even simply make part of the room a shower. It will take a little doing, since you’ll need to install stone and cement walls and floors, including a base and drain. It’s very expensive to do it this way, but it does remove the need to actually put a shower or tub in the bathroom. You can install Plexiglas or glass partitions that will protect the rest of the room from water damage.

Finally, you can install a prefabricated shower cubicle. This type of bathroom shower installs in a corner or as a freestanding unit. It’s basically like a very small closet and simply contains a showerhead and probably a little ledge for you to set soap, shampoo or other necessities in there. Shower doors themselves are also very space saving in these units, since they can open and close flush with the rest of the unit so that they don’t need to swing out into the room itself.

Keep in mind that although you can probably do a simple job yourself, if you wish to have something more elaborate, it probably behooves you to hire a professional contractor to do the job for you.

Bathroom Showers

Bathroom Showers was written by Amanda Taylor and she says "Bathroom showers come in many different, shapes, sizes, and styles. From traditional showers to the more extravagant luxury showers, there are many choices to consider.

Traditional bathroom showers include the most common showers available. Walk in showers are very common as well as practical. This type of shower is a stand alone unit that requires a small step up and a door to close. Another common traditional bathroom shower is the bathtub and shower combination. This type of shower is a good choice when you want a shower and a bathtub but there is limited space..

Luxury and specialty bathroom showers are increasing in popularity with the trend on bathroom design moving toward relaxation and comfort. Steam showers are by far the most popular type of luxury bathroom shower. Steam showers, in addition to providing the regular function of a traditional shower, provide homeowners with a spa-like relaxation experience. Steam bathroom showers emit water vapor to give your body and skin a heated, sauna like feeling. Not only do they produce steam, this type of bathroom shower also has many specialty features such as ceiling rain, foot massager, jets, radio, MP3 output, dual seating, and telephone. Surprisingly, luxury bathroom showers generally do not require more room to install when compared to a traditional bathroom shower.

When considering the options available for bathroom showers, don’t forget to consider both traditional and luxury styles of bathroom showers. While traditional showers are designed for practicality, luxury showers are designed with comfort in mind.

How To Choose Great Bathroom Light Fixtures

How To Choose Great Bathroom Light Fixtures was written by Branka Ilech and he says "Everyone has different tastes; that’s why there are so many different types of bathroom décor. But one thing is constant despite your décor: the need for clear, sharp light. For bathroom lighting, fixtures can make all the difference in the world.

When choosing your bathroom light fixtures styles, keep in mind that your real goal is to make yourself look great, not to make your bathroom look great. You have a practical job to do – grooming and looking your best – and this is what your bathroom light fixtures are to help accomplish..

1) Realize That Vanity Counts

Vanity lighting or mirror lighting in the bathroom is crucial; everyone’s walked into the bathroom where the lighting makes anyone look greenish or pale.

Without good un-shadowed light in a bathroom, it’s impossible to look your best outside the bathroom also, because you can’t see yourself properly when you’re putting on make up. This need for clear, un-shadowed lighting is what makes bathroom light fixtures so important. When choosing fixtures, bear in mind that the clearer your lens or shade is, the more light it will release into the bathroom.

2) Place Fixtures To “Support” Your Face

Placement is a second, important consideration for your bathroom light fixtures. Ideally, you should surround your face with the best light possible, minimizing shadows under the chin and eyes, and illuminating your cheeks and forehead properly.

You don’t have to use Hollywood strips with a half-dozen lights down each side of your mirror, but you should definitely use more than one bathroom light fixture. Ideally, you should have at least one on either side of the mirror.

Don’t place them above your head; instead, take into consideration the relative heights of your family, and try to place your bathroom light fixtures at about average forehead height. This will minimize shadows on all sides of the face.

Keep bathroom light fixtures at least two and a half feet apart; this shouldn’t be a problem, since the average bathroom mirror is at least this width.

If you want to mount your bathroom light fixtures directly on your mirror, that’s fine too; but look at them against a mirror before choosing to do this, as some fixtures just don’t look good in this setting. You may want an additional bathroom light fixture on the ceiling if you have a large or a dark bathroom.

3) Choose Good Lighting - Match Your Fixtures To The Lighting

When choosing your bathroom light fixtures, you should always consider what kind of lights you plan to use. In general, fluorescent is not a great choice; it tends to make people greenish or washed out. Instead, go for incandescent bulbs, or bulbs that advertise their similarity to daylight. Remember that the wrong bulb can make anyone look terrible. If you know of a place with bathroom lights that make you look terrific, see if you can find out what kind of lights they use, and go for these.

Bathroom light fixtures should not change the color of the light inside them; instead, they should release the light clearly and brightly.

Fixtures should be easy enough to maintain and should be guaranteed. Before installing them permanently, hold them up to daylight and be certain you like what you see.

The fixture tips here are provided by http://www.lightfixturesco.com a site designed to save you time and money when you shop for light fixtures on the web. Visit now to find the latest, great deals on fixtures from all over the web.

The Right Bathroom Light Fixture Will Brighten Up Your Bathroom

The Right Bathroom Light Fixture Will Brighten Up Your Bathroom was written by Mike Yeager and he says "A bathroom light fixture may be just what the doctor ordered to brighten up a dark and gloomy bathroom. House lighting is important in every room in your home, but especially in the bathroom. House lighting using too few lights in any room, especially your bathroom not only makes the bathroom look gloomy, but also may be a potential health hazard.

On the other hand, too many lights may make your bathroom seem harsh. Fortunately, a bathroom light fixture will provide your bathroom with the perfect amount of light..

There are many bathroom light fixture styles to choose from, including Modern, Craftsman, Tiffany, Classic, and many others. Regardless of what lighting style you choose, be sure that it will be able to adequately light the bathroom. Also be sure to choose a bathroom light fixture that will be easy to clean, so bathroom maintenance wouldn’t be too much of a chore.

Tips on finding the perfect bathroom light fixture.

Considering that there are so many different styles and types of bathroom light fixtures, it may be difficult to choose the one that is right for you. Many people are turned away from light fixtures because of their price; after all, it is sometimes challenging to find the correct house lighting for any room. However, be aware that there are many discount light fixtures available. Also be sure to choose a bathroom light fixture that fits the style of the rest of your bathroom.

As installing a bathroom light fixture is often a complicated and difficult job it would probably be a good idea to hire a professional to get them installed, unless you have some experience in house electronics. Some other bathroom light fixture considerations are discount light fixture, bathroom supplies, bathroom fixture, lighting, bathroom, bathroom maintenance: all areas of importance when lighting up your bathroom.

A Guide To Bathroom Accessorie

A Guide To Bathroom Accessories was written by Niall Roche and he says "If you're working with a budget and need to add some life to your bathroom then adding some cheap and cheerful bathroom accessories is a great way to add some extra detail to your decor. This, of course, can also save you a lot of money too! The following are a few of the items you might want to think about when redecorating your bathroom.

Do you hate the sensation of walking on a wet bathroom floor - especially first thing in the morning? A wet bathroom floor floor is not only annoying but also downright dangerous. Any wet bathroom floor is a definite health hazard. One way to solve this problem is to invest in a good bath mat. They're not the same drab old items that they used to be either. You can get discount bath mats in a wide variety of shapes, sizes and colors - just make sure whatever mat you choose is highly absorbent and easy to wash..

There's nothing more annoying that having that well prepared bath overflow onto your floor and cause a mess is there? Why not invest in a water level bath alarm to make sure this never happens to you? That way you won't have to keep a constant eye on the tub as it fills because an alarm sounds when the water reaches a certain level and you can stop the disaster before it starts.

Even the tidiest of bathrooms can be a messy place. All those cotton balls, soap wrappers and other toiletries need to be disposed of at some point. A pedestal bin is ideal in this situation because it's opened easily with a foot pedal and then closes to keep the trash tidily out of sight. This type of bin is perfect for bathroom waste because it keeps it out of sight.

The shower curtain is another area to be addressed. The days of drab and droll shower curtains are long over. These come in styles ranging from plastic to fabric with patterns in numerous colors and designs. You can also purchase coordinating hooks and liners to further enhance your bathroom design scheme.

Before you start shopping online for the above accessories bear in mind that you'll need to purchase them to suit a consistent theme so that the finished bathroom has a balanced look and feel to it. Nothing worse than a bathroom full of random accessories that just make no sense at all.

Looking for some great discount bathroom accessories? Check out BathroomCentral for even more bathroom layout ideas for the DIY decorator.

Create A Virtual Paradise In Your Own Home With Quality Bedroom And Bathroom Accessories

Create A Virtual Paradise In Your Own Home With Quality Bedroom And Bathroom Accessories was written by Gregg Hall and he says "A person's private bedroom and bathroom clearly rank as the most important rooms in that individual's home. After all, what does a guy want to do once he's come home from a long day at work? Relax in a hot tub or cool off in the shower and then settle in for a long, restful night of sleep. Right? And we can make that experience reach its maximum comfort level by accessorizing our bathrooms and bedrooms with just the right touches.

Think about it. You walk into your house after a long day at the office, and all you can think about is finding relief for your aching back and neck. A hot shower sounds great. So you step into your bathroom and run through the humdrum of a regular old shower. It's nothing special, but it works. Then you walk into your stark bedroom and settle in for a night of sleep. Again, your bedroom wouldn't stand out in a magazine shoot, but it works..

Now imagine walking into the bathroom and smelling that perfect, inviting smell that just melts your cares away. Instantly you feel your muscles begin to unknot. The colors soothe your soul and make you think of tropical beaches or a desired getaway unlike the stark white walls of the old bathroom ever did. Then you walk into your bedroom and the same inviting scent greets you. Lush pillows on the bed call your name, soothingly asking you to just lay your head down and cuddle right into that plush comforter on your bed. And moreover, when you lay in bed with your eyes wide open and look around your bedroom, you see the things that remind you of why you enjoy life so much, of what makes it worth working so hard every day, because you've surrounded yourself with reminders of your favorite things, from colors to hardware accessories.

The internet can help you accessorize these two important rooms perfectly. These online stores will offer you a vast variety of sheets, blankets, comforters, curtains, and bathroom accessories. The colors will amaze you, and no matter how odd, absurd, conservative, or liberal your taste, you can find something that you like at these kinds of sites.

As you consider what to add to your bathroom and bedroom to make it that perfect getaway place in the house, shoot for quality and comfort. Don't just look at style, but remember, you want these places to be ones that you can genuinely put your feet up at. After comfort, consider your personal style. Maybe you like animal prints, so check out the zebra stripe pillows. Maybe you're a nautical freak and grew up near the ocean, thus pictures of the ocean and sky blue accessories certainly have the potential to soothe you.

Once you've accessorized these two rooms to your liking, the change in your sleeping habits will amaze you. You'll find yourself more relaxed and enjoying these two safe havens even more.

Choosing a Baby Bath

Choosing a Baby Bath was written by Ken Wilssens and he says "Decorating ideas can get tossed out by having a baby around, but you do not have to throw the baby out with the baby bath water, as the saying goes. The furnishing and decoration ideas that you cultivated all through adult life, from college through your bachelor or bachelorette years and on into the years of your romantic love nest or private hideway or sophisticated entertainment pad for you and your partner can all get thrown out when you find yourself with a baby in the house. But there are ways to accommodate the little creature without compromising your own sense of style and space.

There are many convenient styles of baby bath on the market, and they are one of the easiest, cheapest, and most convenient ways to convert any kind of bathtub into one suitable and safe for your baby. Whether you have a big lush jacuzzi, an expensive antique copper clawfoot, or a sleek modern concrete bathtub with sweeping curves, you can just buy a baby tub and set it inside, to create the ideal environment and functional tool for giving your child the attention he or she needs..

The baby bath choices are often listed by the age of the baby, with the general understanding that with age, a child will outgrown a baby tub and need another size, sort of the way you and your partner outgrew your cozy little studio apartment and then found yourselves in need of a living space with room for kids. You can choose from those from zero to six months, six months to 2 years, and so forth, and they come in a number of different styles and designs.

Once you have chosen the baby bath you and your baby like, you just put in inside of the existing tub, and that converts a big grown up body of water into a nice shallow baby-sized bathtub that makes it safe and easy to bath your baby with no special preparations. You just put one tub inside another, and then add the baby and the patience and affection needed to bath your little bundle of joy.

Consumer Reports Baby Bathtubs

Consumer Reports: Baby Bathtubs was written by Brooke Yan and she says "A baby bathtub provides an appropriately compact place for bathing. It can be placed in a sink, in a regular bathtub, on a counter or kitchen table, or right on the floor. However, if you put the tub anywhere higher than the floor, be sure to keep a hand on your baby at all times. With water around, bathtubs have a way of slipping and sliding.

Many of today's tubs have a removable mesh inner cradle so baby can't slide around too much. Others have a slip-resistant padded lining that allows a baby who can't sit up yet to relax in a semi-upright position..

You'll use a baby bathtub for less time than you may think. At about 6 months old, when your baby can sit up, he or she should no longer be bathed in an infant tub that sits in the sink. Instead, transfer baby to a slightly longer tub.

BATH BASICS

Before we get into the specifics of what's on the market, here are a few bath-time tips. For starters, don't worry about giving your baby a bath right away. Bathing doesn't officially start until the stump of your baby's umbilical cord falls off (about two weeks post-delivery). After that milestone, you can give your baby a bath every day if you like, although two to three times a week is a better idea because daily bathing can dry out your baby's tender skin. In addition to the tub, you'll need a soft towel (preferably hooded to cradle your baby's head), a baby washcloth, and baby body wash that doubles as shampoo.

There are a variety of baby bathtubs on the market. Keep in mind that just about any tub you buy will be awkward to use at first, mainly because bathing a squirmy baby--who may dislike temperature changes and being put in water--is awkward in itself. Expect your baby to protest the first time or two. After that, your baby will probably grow to enjoy bath time--and so will you. Also remember that your constant presence and attention is necessary any time your baby is in the bath.

WHAT'S AVAILABLE

Major brands of baby bathtubs include, in alphabetical order: Evenflo, The First Years, Graco, Leachco, J Mason, Primo, and Safety 1st. You'll see simple tubs that are flat on the bottom; tubs with contoured interiors that help position baby's head above water; tubs with supportive, internal nylon mesh slings that cradle newborns; contoured padded bath pillows filled with polystyrene beads that fit inside a regular tub; and tubs with an insert that can be taken out once baby is able to sit up unassisted and which can then be used until a child is age 2. You'll also find tubs with many of these features that fold in half like a suitcase for more compact storage. Bathtubs range from $13 to $30.

FEATURES TO CONSIDER

Contoured design with slip-resistant padded lining. In lieu of a sling, a contoured design is a must for keeping baby from sliding around too much; baby can still slip and slide, though, so you may want to pop in an additional foam cushion, which is sold separately.

A drain with an attached plug. This can make the tub easier to empty. One that's on the large side allows for quicker post-bath cleanup.

Foldability. Some tubs, like the Safety 1st Fold-Up Tub or The First Years 2-in-1 Fold-Away Tub & Step Stool (it folds into a step stool), collapse in two like a suitcase for easier storage. To make sure the tub won't leak, practice at first with a small amount of water.

An internal mesh sling/cradle. It's cozy and supportive, especially for a newborn. Some models, like the Graco Cuddle Tub, come with an adjustable pillow that attaches to the sling, an added comfort.

A rounded crotch projection. Found on the Evenflo Comfort Tub, an ergonomically contoured model, this feature can keep baby in a safer and more comfortable position.

Shower curtain or towel hook. Some models have a hook on the back to hang the tub up for draining or storage.

A smooth, overhanging rim. This feature makes it much easier to carry a heavy, water-filled tub from the sink to another location for bathing.

Suction cups. Some models have suction cups that attach the unit to the bottom of a regular bathtub.

Temperature monitor. If you're worried about getting your baby's bath water just right, some models, such as The First Years Sure Comfort Newborn-to-Toddler Tub, have drain plugs that change color to alert you if the water is too hot for a baby.

RECOMMENDATIONS

Buy a bathtub made for a baby 6 months or younger that features a contoured design or an internal sling that cradles your baby in the water. Mildew-resistant pads are also a plus, although to prevent mildew and soap-scum buildup, you'll still have to clean the tub after each use. Tubs that convert and grow with your baby until age 2 or so are also a good idea.

Some parents report that collapsible tubs have problems with water leakage from the seams. A neater option is to buy a unit that doesn't fold and store it upright in your shower if you're short on space.

How To Choose Quality Tile For Creative Bathroom Designs

How To Choose Quality Tile For Creative Bathroom Designs was written by Gregg Hall and he says "Nothing says "bathroom" like bright tiles in creative designs. While many have opted for cheap fixes like synthetic shower enclosures and linoleum floors or even carpet pieces, the traditional look of tile has the potential to make a bathroom stand out like none other. Tiles come in three main styles: harlequin pattern, natural stone with marble accents, and traditional tiles with color and pattern splashed throughout them.

The harlequin pattern distinguishes itself from the other styles simply by the diamond tile placement instead of the traditional square placement. This particular style appeals to me for several reasons, for one, it's different. It distinguishes the bathroom as a canvas of creativity instead of just another place where a person has to spend time daily. The variety of colors and patterns available give a person endless options for expressing their personal tastes and interests..

Like I said before, I really prefer the harlequin style. And in fact, I most prefer this style in simple, stark black and white tiles. Precisely placed, black and white tiles with chrome accents throughout the bathroom have the potential to make this particular room stand out. No longer do you have to walk into a dull, beige room, but you have the classy look of a dichromatic style with shiny touches. Be aware, however, that if you indeed prefer this look, you're going to be spending some time polishing. The shiny harlequin tiles in black and white and the chrome finishes easily show both water spots and finger prints. So if you don't prefer spending lots of time polishing, you may want to consider other styles of tiles.

The stone tile works best for those who despise water spots. These natural tiles have a matte finish that does not reveal water spots or finger prints. Additionally, the traditional look of brushed stainless steel accents lends itself to a cleanable bathroom because it too does not show water spots or finger prints easily. Those who have a bigger budget can consider the classy look of marble fixtures that blend in well with their natural stone tile.

Many times priced by the piece, tiles can cost a bundle. And so if you're working on a more modest budget, you'll want to move right past the harlequin and natural stone tiles, and instead focus on the traditional tiles. You can still make your bathroom reflect your personal tastes thanks to the vast variety of colors and patterns available in these tiles.

Remember that once you have your style chosen, you should have a professional install your tiles. Sure, we'd all love to save a buck or two, but in the end, you'll appreciate the professional finish that only a trained mason can create.

So expand your mind to the world of tiles, and consider the possibilities.

Tips on Creating a Great Bathroom Design

Tips on Creating a Great Bathroom Design was written by Rob Buenaventura and he says "When you think about, the bathroom is one of the most used rooms in the home. As a result, it only makes sense that you should choose a great bathroom design for your home. The current trends in bathrooms is to make them a personal retreat for home owners and family members, reward yourself and come up with a great bathroom design for your home.

Today’s bathroom designs leave fairly limitless options to homeowners seeking to create their own personal retreat from the world and the rigors of daily living. The truth is that with all the options available it’s fairly difficult not to have an awesome bathroom. If you are still having difficulty envisioning the finished product here are a few suggestions to get the creative juices flowing..

Rather than going with tired wood or metal shelves in your bathroom, consider a bold move such as wicker or clear plastic shelving. You might also consider creating a palette of colors that have been mixed and matched when it comes to paint and flooring or other decorations. Additionally go with designer colors for your porcelain fixtures if that floats your boat, it is your retreat after all. You do want to make sure that the colors you select are complimentary and that you can find decorative touches, towels, shower curtains, and other accents that will also work well with the colors you’ve selected.

You can add a more intimate atmosphere to your bathroom by adding potted plants, flowers in vases, or some sort of seating (consider a rocking chair with pillows) or materials such as leather or fur to give your bathroom a more exotic appeal.

If you’d love a new look for your bathroom but are operating on a very limited budget, try a new shower curtain. You’ll be amazed at how much of a difference this one touch will make to the overall look of the room. You can find shower curtains to suit all kinds of tastes, interests, and quirks on today’s market.

If you’re really willing to get creative, consider a theme for your bathroom. Popular themes for bathrooms include beaches or rivers. These are very natural themes that can be quite attractive. For a rive theme you could buy tiles that are made from river rock or for an oceanic or beach theme you could elect to go with seashells in acrylic. For a tranquil touch, try adding a fountain.

If you are seeking inspiration for the perfect bathroom design you shouldn’t have to look very far. There are wonderful ideas all over the place simply waiting for the creative eye to catch. The next time you are out and about for an evening on the town take a moment to check out the restrooms and see what ideas present themselves for decorative spice. Magazines concerning bathroom remodeling abound and are excellent resources for current trends in bathroom design. If you’re really savvy you’ll find a magazine that is devoted to redesigning your bathroom on a budget. You can also check out television shows that focus on do it yourself projects for remodeling bathrooms—there are plenty from which to choose.

Top Tips For Buying Bath Towels

Top Tips For Buying Bath Towels was written by Niall Roche and he says "As much work and effort as you've put into your bathroom it's never complete without one important, almost essential, accessory. What is that? The bath towel of course! The bathroom towel is more than a mere accessory... it's an essential item for every single bathroom in the world. Your bathroom should be as comfortable as possible in every sense of the word and this includes quality, comfortable bath towels in all shapes and sizes.

Most people just see a towel as something use to dry yourself after a bath, shower or even shaving. Towels mean a bit more than that though; people can be very particular about their towels - almost to excess at times. The look, feel and shape of the towel are always important - if you're really honest with yourself. You need to ask yourself the question - "What type of towel person are you?". Are you the type that likes the soft, velvety terry towels or do you much prefer a rougher towel to rub yourself down with after bathing? This is something to really consider before you go out and buy a new towel bale..

When looking for new towels there are two basic types to pick from - the hand towel and the bath towel. A hand towel is a small towel normally kept near a sink in a bathroom or small separate toilet. It's just a small convenient towel for your family or guests to dry their hands on. They just make more sense in the small spaces surrounding a sink and are less awkward to handle than a large bath towel.

Now we can have a look at the actual bath towel itself. These come in all shapes and sizes with something to suit every taste and every budget. It's important to look at your current bathroom decor and then mentally picture what type of towel would suit the room. If you've spent time and money on redecorating your bathroom then why spoil it by adding cheap, color mismatched towels to the room? If you shop clever then a great idea is to buy a towel bale that has the same shape and style of towel in several sizes - your hand towels and bath towels will match in every room!

Buying a quality bath towel will also save you money in the long run. Cheaper bath towels tend to wear faster - that is they tend to fall apart after several months. You shouldn't ever cut corners when buying something so personal as a bath towel.

There are dozens of great online stores to find bath towels in so why not start looking today?

Does any bathroom ever have enough towels? Are you looking to find the best quality bath towels? Check out BathroomCentral for tips on finding these and even more layout ideas for your bathroom for the DIY decorator.

Tips on Choosing a New Bath Tub

Tips on Choosing a New Bath Tub was written by Claire Bowes and she says "Cast-Iron Bath Tubs

Some antique cast-iron bath tubs are very valuable. If you decide that you want to replace your old cast-iron bath, then be sure to get in touch with a dealer and get a quote - you don't want to be putting a very valuable bath in the skip for someone else to take it and profit from it!

However, antique cast-iron bath tubs are becoming very popular today, and many people are choosing to keep these baths and simply getting a company to come out and re-enamel them. Some companies like to do this work on their own premises, but some do come out to your home and spray them in your bathroom..

If you would like to purchase a reproduction of even a restored antique cast-iron bath tub, there are specialist supplers around. Be warned however, that even though they are reproduction, or second-hand they will still be likely to be expensive.

Also be warned that cast-iron baths are extremely heavy and they would take at least 2 people (ideally 3 people) to lift it up the stairs and into your bathroom. They also do need a bit of extra care to maintain, especially keeping it clean.

Man-Made Bath Tubs

Today, most baths are made from acrylic, gass-reinformed plastic or enamelled pressed steel. The acrylic and plastic baths could be carried by just one person, as they are very light, but yet obviously very solid and durable. However, the steel bath would probably have to be carried by two people.

You must be careful not to use some abrasive cleaners or bleach on your plastic or acrylic bathtubs as some may harm the surface of the bath.

Because these types of bathtubs are made with flexible materials such as plastic/acrylic, more unusual designs can be made. You also have the choice of matching bath panel, taps at the rear, front, corner or side, and probably a choice of every color you can think of. At this present day, white seems to be the trend.

Corner Bath Tubs

Corner bath tubs are quite popular. People want to be a little bit different from getting the standard rectangular bath. Also, many people think that corner bathtubs save on space. This is actually not true. A corner bath surprisingly occupies more floor area than a rectangular bath of the same capacity. It is because the tub is turned at an angle within the room that it would take up less wall space.

Therefore, because a corner bath tub takes up less wall space, you can then use this space to fit shelves, a radiator or a modern towel warmer. You could even use the extra space to have a stand-alone shower cubicle next to the tub.

Again, corner baths come in all sorts of colors and varieties of shapes and sizes. Choosing different styles of taps to complement the look of your room and tub are also very flexible, whether it be a victorian feel or a modern feel. You can customize the look of your bath simply by the taps you choose.

Rectangular Bath Tubs

Even though many people today opt for the corner bath design, a rectangular bath is still the most poopular as it has the most economical design and will fit into any style of bathroom. Rectangular baths can be bought in different lengths to suit your needs. Lengths vary from 1.5 to 1.8m in length, with widehts from 700 to 800mm.

Rounded Bath Tubs

If you have a very large bathroom, then a certain 'wow factor' would be to install a round bath. A round bath in the center of a large bathroom is an impressive feature of the overall interior design of the room. For obvious reasons, a round bath would be impossible/impractical in smaller bathrooms, but if you have the space - then go for it!

Making a Splash with Your New Corner Bath Tub

Making a Splash with Your New Corner Bath Tub was written by Matt Garrett and he says "If you’re one of the millions of Americans who have decided to upscale their homes with new or remodeled bathrooms, one of the best ways, by the way, to increase its value-you’ll do yourself a big favor by giving your contractor a very clear idea of the corner bath tub you have in mind.

The tub is one of the first items that will be installed, so you need to make sure the bathroom is designed to accommodate its length and depth, water requirements, both in capacity and in any special plumbing, and attachments. Will it include a shower, or whirlpool, or air jets?

So you have some legwork ahead of you. Corner Bath tubs are now available in a myriad of shapes, dimensions, materials, colors, complexity, and price ranges. And because they are fixtures, be sure you can live with the model you choose for a good while. Shop for a corner bath tub as if, because it might be, the last one you will ever buy.

In your travels from showroom to showroom, don’t be bashful about trying the various corner bath tub models on for size. Take off your shoes, and hop in for a test fitting.

If you’re someone who can’t get enough of a long, leisurely soak at the end of a hard day, and uses corner bath tub time to ease away tight muscles and frayed nerves, you might be a good candidate for a large, deep tub which will let you stretch out and submerge.

The standard American bath tub is between fourteen and seventeen inches in depth. You probably already know if that will work for you. European and Japanese style tubs are, respectively, eighteen and twenty-two inches deep.

Once you settle on a depth for your tub, decide whether you want a built-in, or freestanding, corner bath tub. If you opt for a built-in, you then have to choose a style.

The basic bath-tub-American-style is the alcove tub, with its inner edge situated against a wall so that it can only be accessed from the front; it will probably be available only in shallow depths.

Because the alcove bath tub usually includes a shower, you will have to decide if you want your bath tub to have permanent shower doors, or allow yourself the flexibility of a shower curtain. And you need to make sure the walls and ceiling surrounding the bath tub are of waterproof material.

You can also consider a tub-and-shower combination unit, which is made of molded fiberglass coated with a layer of acrylic. The big advantage of these units is that they are leak proof, but you need to be sure that the unit will fit through your existing bathroom door. They are, because of their size, most commonly used in new home construction.

And, if retro is your thing, freestanding bath tubs are making a big comeback. They are available with the same slanted back and ornate legs as the bathtubs of Victorian days, and, like those bathtubs, come in cast iron or porcelain-or 21st-century acrylic, if you are not quite THAT retro.

Just remember your free-standing bath tub will have its pipes, in all their glory, exposed, but hey, this IS a bathroom, and we’re all friends, aren’t we?

And, if price be no object, you might also consider sunken, garden, Roman, or Japanese Ofuro-style bath tubs, all of which require special framing, but will give your bathroom a decidedly luxurious aura.

Go ahead. Bathe yourself in style.

Toilet Seats

Toilet Seats was written by Seth Miller and he says "A toilet seat is the chair and lid of a toilet, although technology-driven toilet seats in Japan may include a number of built-in features including a bidet, a blow drier, and a heated seat. As you can see, the level of sophistication in a toilet seat ranges everywhere from simple and basic to practically futuristic. There are a great many to choose from in al categories and price ranges.

When shopping for toilet seats, make sure it matches the decor of the bathroom. Also make sure you decide whether to get a decorative toilet seat cover; some people like them, and some do not. See to it that the connections to the toilet bowl are sturdy and properly measured, as well as good-looking. Yes, even a toilet design can be good or bad, aesthetically. Finally, shop within your budget. A light plastic toilet seat with no cushion or reinforcement can be as cheap as a few dollars, while a classy bronze or wood one may cost dozens or even hundreds of dollars..

Even the best toilet seat is bound to crack or get stained, and to require replacement. Replacing the seat professionally is costly and most homeowners attempt to replace it themselves. To determine the kind of toilet seat required to replace the old one, the seat has to be lifted and measured, from the front of the bowl to the center of the bolt holes. On toilets that require a round seat, the dimension will be approximately 16 ½-inches. If it measures over 20-inches, the toilet requires an elongated seat.

Toilets provides detailed information on Toilets, Portable Toilets, Composting Toilets, Toilet Seats and more. Toilets is affiliated with Bathroom Faucets.

Nothing Beats The Classic Style Of Clawfoot Tubs

Nothing Beats The Classic Style Of Clawfoot Tubs was written by Rob Barnes and he says "Clawfoot bathtubs have a unique, instantly recognizable style. You've seen them - they look old-fashioned with smooth rolled rims, resting on four legs with the "feet" resembling claws. Let's discuss them and their close cousins, the pedestal tubs, and some of the more prominent makers of these styles.

* The original clawfoot tubs, made of cast iron with a porcelain finish, started becoming popular in the mid 1800's. European style clawfoot tubs typically have wall-mounted hardware and faucets, while the American style mounts the hardware on the tub itself..
* While the original cast iron style is very solid, more modern materials like acrylic give you the same great look, but they make the tub lighter and easier to maintain
* Some have slanted back makes it very easy to ease back and enjoy the soaking comfort.
* Slipper tubs, on the other hand, have a high back.
* Pedestal tubs have the same features, except that they rest on a pedestal, or platform, instead of feet. They have a very elegant look indeed.
* Clawfoot and pedestal bath tubs are freestanding, and thus are relatively easy to install, since no carpentry or masonry has to be done, and the exposed pipes make maintenance and repair easy.

Top makers of these bathtub styles include:

* Barclay Products designs Victorian style clawfoot tubs made from both cast iron and acrylic, but with very modern accessories. Barclay combines the best of the old and the new in their products.
* Cheviot makes several elegant lines of pedestaland clawfoot tubs, including the Slipper Bath, Traditional Roll Top , Regency, Windsor and Balmoral Baths.
* Vintage Tub and Bath is an online retailer whose main focus, in fact, is selling these classic styles of tubs.

Do yourself a favor and dress up your bathroom with an classically-styled clawfoot or pedestal tub.

Rob Barnes writes for Bathtubs For You, a consumer guide to helping you select, buy and maintain bathtubs, covering styles such as clawfoot tubs and pedestal bathtubs, and brands such as Barclay Tubs.

Modern Home Saunas - Steam Baths and Steam Showers

Modern Home Saunas - Steam Baths and Steam Showers was written by Greg Walker and he says What a better way to relax than in the comfort of your own home. If you are a passionate sauna or steam room extraordinaire, just like our Finnish friends, then home saunas and home steam rooms are just what you’re looking for. Imagine relaxing and bathing in your own personal sauna or steam room after a long and tiresome workday. Then imagine the feeling you get after releasing all the dirty toxins, chemicals and whatnot from your body coming out of the sauna or steam room. Sound appealing? Of course it does.

I’m not exactly sure of the first date a sauna was ever created but they have been in use since Greek and Roman times and quite possibly, even before that. According to many resources the people of Finland also known as the Finnish developed the first modern sauna which as you may well know requires the pouring of water onto smoldering hot rocks. Well, that time is up too. A new era has evolved and now infrared saunas are undertaking society’s markets everywhere. An infrared sauna consists of multiple infrared heaters strategically positioned inside the sauna to offer a quicker and more powerful heating experience. No rocks, no water, no steam, no mess – just an electrical temperature control device on the outside and inside of the sauna. They also just plug right into the wall in a normal 110v electrical outlet. How does listening to your burned mp3s or store-bought cds on a built in cd player sound at the same time your working your sauna sweat? Thought so.

Well if you’re still reading I suppose I peaked your mind a little bit. That’s just saunas… What do you do exactly when you leave a sauna, all covered in sweat? I bet you want to take a nice relaxing cool shower to wash all those bad toxins away. Well, showers have come an extremely long way too and now the typical modern shower includes functions we never thought of. How does a hydrotherapy foot massage sound? Or a water acupuncture back massage? Well these and many other features including telephone support are built into showers nowadays.

Overall, experiencing the relaxed and soothing feeling a sauna or steam room environment provides you with can enlighten you and will ultimately make you just feel plain better. I guarantee it.

What Are The Effects On Your Health Using A Steam Bath

What Are The Effects On Your Health Using A Steam Bath was written by Kerris Samson and he says "For thousands of years now many people have realized what the positive effects of having a steam bah are. Hippocrates discovered that a fever could help cure many diseases and both steam baths and saunas have been able to produce a “simulated fever” ever since his time and maybe even earlier.

Although both saunas and steam baths have excellent healing benefits, a steam bath you will find is especially good for helping with respiratory problems such as asthma and bronchitis as well as allergies as it is found that it helps to elevate the moisture content in our bodies. A steam bath is also good for cleansing and toning our skin as well. Because of the increased levels of sweat being produced by the steam bath or sauna you will soon find your skin is left feeling soft and supple and most people who use a steam bath find themselves feeling re-energized and recharged as well..

As previously mentioned a steam bath is a good way of helping with any respiratory ailment you may be suffering from as the steam helps to remove allergens and mucus that have got into the lungs. For a long time now doctors have always advised patients to use steam in helping with any respiratory problems that they may have. The benefits of a steam bath are that this allows the person inhaling the steam to take in larger concentrations than they would get just by using a vaporizer which provides them with the maximum benefits of such a treatment.

Not only does steam provide the patient with a soothing feeling in their breathing passages because of the levels of moisture in their lungs, throat and nose have been raised, but many people suffering from asthma or even a common cold often comment that they feel much better after having a steam bath.

Unfortunately, although a person may feel better after having a steam bath or sauna, this is not actually a cure for the respiratory disease that they are suffering from and many find themselves returning time and again to having a steam bath because of the temporary relief it supplies them with from the symptoms that they suffer from.

Also by sweating a lot this provides you with a much healthier skin. Certainly dermatologists understand how good steam is for helping to create a beautiful healthy glow to our bodies. Also sweating profusely is better for the skin that using soap and water ever will be as it not only unlocks the skins pores but it removes not just dead cells but also deep seated grime from the body as well. A steam bath also increases the flow of blood around the body and to your skin which helps towards that healthy glowing look.

Another added benefit of a steam bath or sauna is it helpful in dealing with muscular pain that many people suffer from. A steam bath taken after a heavy workout in the gym etc., is a great way of speeding up the healing process to any damaged tissues or muscle. The heat allows the blood vessels to become enlarged and increases the circulation of blood around the body resulting in more oxygen being allowed to get to the parts of the body that have been injured. Not only does this reduce the pain that a person is feeling but it also helps to speed up the healing process as well.

It is often said that a good nights sleep is one of the best ways to help heal the body and life in today’s society is full of stresses and strains which over time can help to cause stress related illnesses such as high blood pressure and hypertension. However, a steam bath or sauna is an ideal way of helping you to unwind and relieve the stresses and strains that you are feeling. The heat from the steam bath or sauna helps your muscles to become loose and the steam provides you with a comfortable atmosphere to help calm and soothe your mind.

Many people find that a steam bath prior to bedtime is a great way of helping them get a good nights sleep. Often they come out of having a steam bath feeling relaxed and calm. Certainly if you take a steam bath on a regular basis you will soon find just how better your health and your state of mind is.

So why delay go ahead and indulge yourself in a steam bath and reap its rewards. You will soon be happy with the results that are occurring to your overall health and state of mind just by taking a regular steam bath.

How to Remodel A Small Bathroom

How to Remodel A Small Bathroom was written by Ken Marlborough and he says "Not all bathrooms can be lavish spaces with whirlpool tubs and two separate vanities. For some bathrooms, space is at a premium and knocking out walls is not an option, but remodeling must be done. Small bathroom remodeling presents its own complications, but with the right information, a small bathroom-remodeling project can shine.

Before beginning your small bathroom remodeling, design a floor plan that maximizes the room's useable space. Don't be afraid to design up by incorporating free-floating cabinets. Use mirrors to stretch a small bathroom's space, and keep the color scheme simple. Keep a small bathroom bright, fresh, and inviting with coordinated colors and accessories..

Pare down the scale in your bathroom. Big items take up more space in the bathroom and look bulky. Corner sinks are simple and small. These sinks free up visual space below, but don't provide the counter space and cabinet space that a traditional sink provides. Another option is a pedestal sink. These sinks have a more classic design and are free standing. Wall-mounted sinks save space but do not have counter space. Both types of sinks do not provide storage space underneath. Most home-improvement stores stock smaller sinks, or you can custom order one from a cabinet shop for a price.

A simple way to conserve space is to do away with a tub and just use a shower. Smaller tubs, however, are available, although most cannot handle whirlpool faucets. Any tub less than five feet long will probably spill the water sprayed by the whirlpool faucets.

Pick a toilet that can sit close to the wall to conserve space, and the size of the seat and tank design determine just how much space the toilet will use. Also pay attention to the size of the home's original toilet. Older homes have toilets with 10 to 14 inches between the wall and the toilet drain, but newer homes typically have 12 inches. The wrong toilet won't fit. Buying a toilet with a low tank takes up less visual space and compact toilets leave more room, but as with any small bathroom remodeling project, use these suggestions to find a toilet that is both stylish and fits in the room.

Finally, limit what you bring into the bathroom. To save space in a cramped bathroom, for example, it may be best to have a dressing area in a bedroom. Limit the number of accessories -- clutter can easily make a small bathroom look smaller.

Planning a small remodeling may take extra planning, but the resulting clean, beautiful, an uncluttered bathroom will be an inviting space.

How to Efficiently Organize Small Bathroom

How to Efficiently Organize Small Bathroom was written by Max Peykar and he says "A family with hectic schedules faces big problems with small, overcrowded bathrooms. Scattered items with no particular place for individual stuff makes it almost impossible to locate any particular item on the bathroom countertop.

With restricted time in the morning hours when everyone is in a hurry, searching for your favorite lip-gloss or moisturizer or can of hair mousse might annoy you and make you feel helpless. What you exactly need is a little bit of creativity and a candid judgment of your bathroom's contents. This will solve most of your problems..

Few simple steps and most of your problems are out of the bathroom. You might have spent ample amount of money on buying products which you and your family members are not using at present. There might be some items left over by your guests that are again non-usable. You must discard these items in order to free the precious space blocked by these stuff in the overcrowded quarters of the bathroom. You must be aware of the fact that these products, though costly, are costing you more in annoyance and anxiety than it's worth. Perhaps, you’ll be startled to see the space that you can free up by wiping out this redundant and unnecessary stuff.

Now check out the leftovers. If you have a drawer for make-up with nothing in order, you can place tiny boxes and baskets to keep particular items in them. Sort out things by making a box for placing lipsticks and glosses, another for all kinds of eye makeup yet another for makeup applicators like brushes and dabs. Keep a separate big basket for hair accessories and keep it under the sink. Next time you think of any hair accessory just take out the basket and then put it in its place.

Don’t make your bathroom a store. If you have a tendency to stock up on products used in toilet such as toilet paper, lotion, or toothpaste, think about storing those in a storeroom or linen closet in place of the bathroom. Make certain that all family members are aware of the place to look for a substitute or refill.

Above all, your family must be convinced to accept the ways to maintain and organize the use of items in the bathroom. They must keep up the ways to use bathroom, as it will be a sheer waste of time organizing everything only to find them tousled and clumsy in the next week. So while reorganizing the bathroom or keeping it systematic make sure that everyone is involved in the process.

Modern Bathrooms

Modern Bathrooms was written by Nancy Dalton and she says "Bathroom is not just a place for personal hygiene but also a place to relax the mind and the body. Whirlpool tubs, body sprays are some of the luxuries of a modern bathroom. People who don't have ample time to visit a spa frequently are turning their bathroom into a personal mini spa.

Using colors is the most inexpensive and effective way to enliven a bathroom. Painting even a single wall in some vibrant color can make your bathroom look younger and cheerful..

Never mind if you have a small bathroom. You can make it look bigger by installing large mirrors on the wall. Also use sliding doors to save space. Have shower cubicles in place of bathtubs. All this will save enough space.

Faucets are also an important part of the bathroom. Don't opt for cheap faucets. They may look tempting but in the long run, they will prove to be expensive, as they will have to be replaced pretty soon. See that your faucet has anti-scald feature, as this will prove to be beneficial with kids around.

Most modern and contemporary bathrooms have floor-heating systems. It's a luxury you can't afford to miss. Wouldn't you want to place your feet on a welcomingly warm and toasty floor after having a nice bath. Electric floor heating system can be installed under most type of tiles like ceramic, stone, granite etc. This system is not only affordable but also safe.

Consider flowering plants in the window and framed family photographs on the wall. How do you like the idea? Wouldn’t it make the bathroom cozy and cheerful?

Since most of the remodeling budget, around 31%, goes in bathroom cabinets, they are also worth considering. There are two types of cabinets- framed and frameless. Framed cabinets are the popular cabinets in America. They are also called standard cabinets. Frameless cabinets are cheaper because they use less material. They also look more stylish. Frameless cabinets occupy lesser area than framed ones. As far as installation is concerned framed cabinets are easier to install.

Design Tips For Your Master Bathroom

Design Tips For Your Master Bathroom was written by Lee Dobbins and she says "When you redecorate your master bedroom, don’t leave the master bath out in the cold! You can add some zing to your bathroom too and create a cohesive theme between the two rooms that will give you a real sweet master suite.

One thing you need to do when redecorating your master bath is to be sure to tie in some of the elements from your bedroom. You don’t have to make it an identical match, but using a common color or theme will really unite the two rooms. If your bedroom has a cottage theme, carry this over into the bathroom by putting out some shells in dishes on the vanity. If your bedroom is more shabby chic with big floral wallpaper, then think about carrying the color of the flowers into the master bath..

One of the big design elements in the bathroom is the hardware. Faucets and spigots, in addition to tubs and toilets are made in a variety of shapes and materials which can be the centerpiece of your design. Open showers are currently popular with the younger upwardly- mobile crowd, and claw-foot bathtubs are almost always considered to be classic and attractive. When selecting hardware and figuring out a floor plan, think about privacy issues and don't put the toilet and tub too close together.

Another big element in the bathroom is the tiling. The more expensive tiles should have durability, aesthetic value, and a non-porous surface. Make sure your tiles can be easily cleaned and sanitized, and that it is easy to install and does not require special adhesives which can become costly. When choosing tile, think out of the box. You don’t have to use only porcelain tile, consider marble, clay and anything else you see in the store that catches your eye.

Once you have the design down and selected the major elements, focus on decoration accessories to bring out personality and individualism. The bathroom doesn’t have to just be functional and putting interesting items on the walls or shelves is a great way to give the room some character. Don’t be afraid to use your own ideas and put what you want into the room when redecorating your master bathroom.

Make Bathroom Wall Mirrors Part Of Remodeling A Small Bathroom

Make Bathroom Wall Mirrors Part Of Remodeling A Small Bathroom was written by Janett Finnila and she says"Too often homes are built with bathrooms that are far too small. If you've got one of those home you can make bathroom wall mirrors part of remodeling.

There are several ways you can make your bathroom look a lot bigger than it is including the use of mirrors. Here are some great tips.

1. Wallpaper
Wallpaper can add a nice touch to a bathroom but you need to make sure you keep the patterns nice and small especially in a small room. Borders are a great way to give the illusion of larger and there are some great ones to choose from..

2. Paint
Light colors in cool shades work best in a small bathroom. It will give the room an airy feel and create an optical illusion. Consider combining two colors.

3. Lighting
Your bathroom lighting can play an important role in creating the feeling of space. Space your fixture so that they provide the optimum lighting and effect. Natural lighting is always a great asset if available. Consider installing a skylight.

The lighting above the vanity should not be overpowering. You don't want to be blinded by too harsh of lighting.

4. Bathroom Mirrors
Placing mirrors opposite each other is an age old trick that gives the illusion of space especially when it is combined with plenty of light. If your bathroom has a window and you place a mirror opposite at the correct angle you will give the illusion of an additional window.

You vanity mirrors should be adequate to be used for what they are intended for and you might also consider choosing fogless glass. You can add a shower mirror to the bathroom as well and of course wall mirrors are a great investment.

5. Bathroom Wall Mirror
Just like reflective surfaces this is an excellent way to make your room look much larger but you need to be careful with the lighting. Too much lighting around the mirror can cause headaches.

If you have lots of mirrors in the room the light fixtures can be just too overpowering. If you have a mirror that covers the entire wall or above the sink use track lighting with the opaque bulbs for a softer yet very functional lighting. And it's much easier to take first thing in the morning.

Angle the mirrors to get the most out of them. The angle of the mirror can give the illusion of larger room. Strategically placed it can reflect a floral bouquet on the opposite side of the room or it can reflect another mirror.

If you will be using your bathroom as your dressing room consider placing wall mirrors so that you have 360 degree viewing.

6. Bath Mats And Racks
Avoid heavy use of towel racks and bath mats. Keep it light and simple. In a small room it doesn't take much too suddenly feel crowded and a common mistake is too many mats and racks.

7. Reflective Surfaces
Bathroom cabinets and countertops that have a shiny reflective surface help make the bathroom look much larger.

A small bathroom will always be small but there are many ways to create the illusion of a much larger room and using bathroom wall mirrors is one of the ways.

Janett has worked as a home interior decorator for more than 10 years, so she knows the importance of a well placed mirror in your bedroom or your bathroom. Janett will give you a list of answers to questions on http://www.mirrorguide.com , in order for you to find the best contemporary mirrors that is best suited for your room.

Bathroom Wall Cabinet Choices

Bathroom Wall Cabinet Choices was written by Delbert Parkison and he says "When you want a bathroom that is decorative, beautiful, and simplistic, you want appliances for that bathroom that reflect the most functional beauty they can reflect. This is not always a simplistic task, but there are some ways that are easier to accomplish this goal than others. For example, a bathroom wall cabinet is a great way to have added beauty and functionality to any bathroom. However, since it is not always the easiest of appliances to replace, many people do not think about this as a home décor option.

A bathroom wall cabinet is usually built into a wall, but this is not always the case. Sometimes, these cabinets hang from the wall via a mounting system you or the previous people installed. You have a lot of choices to choose from either way, but it is significantly easier to work with one that is mounted on the outside of the wall and not built in as may be the case. Go ahead, find out if you have an inny or an outy..

Well, now that you know there are a few ways to proceed. We can go ahead and discuss options, or you can change your mind and not continue with your considerations. I will continue because I am interested in what my options are at this point. Well, first I can choose one with mirrors or with no mirrors. There is a lot of material that can be on the front of these bathroom wall cabinets besides mirror. Glass is a good example. Once I have decided glass, then I must ask myself whether I want an foggy glass or a clear glass; then I must consider etched or not etched.

There are other popular options considered with a bathroom wall cabinet. I like a triple door cabinet, but some people prefer one or two doors on their cabinetry. The choice is one of convenience and style. There is literally no wrong choice with this portion of the decision. Actually, there is never a wrong choice. Whatever you want, you can have.

There are usually a large array of bathroom wall cabinets at the local home improvement store as well as with many retail chains. The only limit is your imagination because even if you cannot find what you are looking for locally, you can search via the Internet. The Internet leaves a whole new shopping world at your fingertips. However, many companies will charge extra for heavy and bulky items. Make sure you understand the complete fee associated with the bathroom wall cabinet before you buy it on the Internet.

If all else fails, you can create your own. However, I am not that adventurous or brave. I choose to shop the Internet for a style that pleases me, then I shop the local market for my needs. This is not always an option and should be handled with caution. I have a tendency to spend a lot more than what I would spend on a bathroom wall cabinet when I go window shopping.

A bathroom wall cabinet is a great addition to any bathroom. However, you must proceed with caution or you will get more than you bargain for. In addition, there are so many choices that you must be prepared. A smart shopper is a happy shopper!

Delbert has been a co-author of many cabinet making books such as "Cabinet Making Magic". For more than 14 years, he had taught workshop classes at his local community high school. At http://www.i-furnitures.com, Delbert will take you through a step by step guide on how to make ideal, space saving, and inexpensive bathroom vanity cabinets that is right for your home.

Consumer's Guide To Bathroom Taps

Consumer's Guide To Bathroom Taps was written by James Hickman and he says "This article explains the key questions that you should consider when purchasing new taps for your bathroom. The information is aimed at consumers in the United Kingdom.

Question 1: Whats the tap made of ?

Taps can be made from a range of materials of varying quality and cost.

A general rule of thumb is that the heavier the tap the better the quality of materials used!

Plastic

Plastic taps are very cheap and very low quality. They are very light and are offered in a variety of colours. Plastic taps cannot be recommended for bathroom use because of their poor performance and short expected operational life..

Standard Brass ABS/Mazac

Standard brass is regularly used to manufacture the bodies of mid-priced, medium quality taps.

Many tap components (such as handles) can be made from ABS (plastic) or an alternative material sometimes referred to as Mazac (Pot Metal). These are cheaper than using brass, and whilst the quality is regularly very good, brass offers a better finish and lasts longer.

Standard brass taps are suitable for bathroom use, with or without ABS or Mazac components.

DZR Brass

Whilst, standard brass has gained complete acceptance in many facets of the water distribution industry, in certain circumstances when exposed to particular combinations of pH and concentrations of chlorides, they can experience a serious form of corrosion known as dezincification.

The answer to this is a dezincification resistant alloy, normally referred to as DZR brass.

This is the Rolls Royce material for taps and the highest quality product will be made from DZR brass without any ABS or Mazac components

Question 2: Will the taps work with your system pressure ?

First the good news, if you have a combi-boiler or un-vented hot water system then you dont need to fret about pressure, both high pressure and low pressure taps will work well with your system.

However, if you have a traditional gravity fed system, with a cold water storage tank in the attic, and a hot water cylinder then you will want to be more cautious.

Firstly you want to work out how much water pressure you have:

Calculate the distance, in meters, from the bottom of the cold water storage tank, to the outlet of the tap and multiply by 0.1 to give you the pressure in bar:

e.g. 1.1 Meters x 0.1 = 0.11 bar

2.5 Meters x 0.1 = 0.25 bar

If you want a bath/shower mixer with a showering handset, then you must determine the distance from the foot of the cold water storage tank to the height at which the handset will be used, not the height of the tap, or the handset when it rests in the support.

You also need to be aware that elongated pipe work runs rapidly use up any pressure inside a system, so if your taps are a long way from the cold storage tank then you will want to lessen the calculated pressure to take account of this.

Once you have a good idea of your water pressure then you need to verify that whatever taps you are looking to buy will work at that pressure.

As a rule of thumb many designer taps come from Europe where the water systems have superior pressure than in the UK and these taps wont work if you have very low pressure.

Designer taps made specifically to work on low pressure systems are normally more expensive and the retailer will highlight the fact that the taps are suitable for low pressure systems. If it doesn't say specifically that the taps will work with low pressure then assume the worst and don't buy without asking the retailer to verify the pressure requirements.

Question 3: What is the operating mechanism of the tap ?

Ceramic disc and spindle refer to the two alternative ways that the inner mechanism of a tap can operate.

Ceramic disc technology is usually used on more costly taps, as they function better and last longer. When the lever is turned, two ceramic discs are parted opening the valve and allowing the water to pour.

The traditional spindle design is commonly used on inferior quality, cheaper tap designs. The tap has a spindle through the core, with the valve seat attached via a screw thread. A standard tap washer is fixed to the end of the valve seat. As the knob is turned the spindle rotates and the screw thread moves the valve seat up and down to adjust the flow of water

Ceramic Disc Taps
Benefits
Drip free never change another tap washer again !
Long Life should never need to be replaced under regular use
Simple to Operate only a quarter turn is required to go from full on to off
Variety of styles works with modern lever designs and round handles

Draw Backs
Inferior flow rates - Unsuitable for very low pressure systems

Spindle Taps
Advantages
Superior flow rates suitable for most systems, high or low pressure

Draw Backs
Hard to operate - handle has to be turned many times from off to full on
Higher maintenance - washers will need replacing often
Less choice of style - cannot be used with modern lever designs

There are two key things to consider.

1. Unless you have a very low pressure system or are looking for the lowest feasible price then it is best to go for ceramic disc taps.

2. When comparing tap prices always ensure that both taps use the same mechanism. They may look the same, but if one is ceramic disc and one uses a spindle then the cheapest tap may actually be the worst value!

Question 4: How will the taps connect to your system?

Mono Basin & Bidet mixers are attached to the water supply by connectors, sometimes referred to tap tails. These come in two types, flexible and rigid and the purchaser normally doesn't get any option within a range of taps.

Both types join directly to normal 15mm copper pipe work. The tap manufacturer usually decides what type of connectors each range of tap he makes will have.

Which kind is most suitable for you depends on where the taps are being installed and who is doing the installation.

Flexible Connectors

Best for DIY Installers: You dont require any plumbing skills, the bendable hose will simply trasnsform into whatever shape is necessary and the connection is made easily by tightening the compression nut with a wrench.

Best for small spaces with difficult access. The flexible hose allows connections in places that would be almost impossible to get into with rigid pipe work.

Rigid Connectors

Best for professional installers: The rigid connectors become part of the sturdy copper pipe run that connects the supply to the tap. The connections are made with capillary fittings, lead free solder and a blow torch. The end product looks neater, lasts longer and is much less prone to leaks.

Best for more open spaces with simple access. Even the most professional installer will want a large enough space to bend and fit the copper pipe run from the supply. If the space is too compact then flexible connectors may be the only viable option.

Question 5: Does the Tap meet the necessary Bylaws and/or Standards ?

British Standards

The first thing that confuses many people is that British Standards for taps are not quality guarantees. They just state certain things that a tap meeting with the standard should do. There is also no requirement that any product is tested by a third party to verify it actually meets the standard, so an assertion that a product meets BS5412 is only as reliable as the business making the claim !

The British Standards signify the minimum that a tap should meet to perform a particular application.

The key British Standards applied to taps are:

BS5412
The specification for low-resistance single taps and combination tap assemblies.

BS1010
The Specification for draw-off taps and stop-valves for water services

There is no British Standard at all for Ceramic Disc taps. So the very fact that somebody quotes that the tap complies with BS5412 or BS1010 lets you know that it is an inferior design spindle tap!

Water Bylaws

All products attached to the UK drinking water supply must be compliant to the UK Water Bylaws. There are independent testing and certification schemes in place to establish conformity, however these are not mandatory in the UK.

The expense of outside certification is high and many top brand tap manufacturers decide not to pay for certification. Any taps that have KIWA or WRAS approval have been tested for compliance and should be of a good quality, but all taps installed in the UK, must by law comply with the Water Bylaws.

James is the owner of PlumbingPages.com, The UK's leading plumbing and bathroom information sites.
